Climate (change) is one of the main subjects that can and are being dicussed under the scope of Citizens' Assemblies, that should be held under a intergenerational and intersectional framework, for its results to be the closest possible to the real concerns of citizens.

For an intersectional Citizens' Assembly perhaps we need to start from the endpoint and ask what are the main themes that concern  participants and then specifically what topics within those themes would citizens be interested to explore and deliberate on.

I'd like to see something in the area of care. I imagine that climate change - albeit urgent and crucial - may feel like a distant, abstract topic in many people's lives. In contrast, a topic such as care - in the sense of care for elders, children and other dependents - is more likely to feel like a concrete, pressing and present concern in many people's lives. I don;t have a specific question here and like Anastasia's idea to incorporate some power sharing and maybe throw the general question of care into the room and see which aspects are uppermost in participants' minds.

Another topic that could be discussed would be specific steps we could take to ensure housing is both affordable and sustainable for everyone.

To second Elena's post, I think that affordable and sustainable housing would appeal to people from a range of backgrounds and experiences. Even if someone is not experiencing a precarious housing situation, they might know someone who is/has or just feel strongly about accessible housing.

A Citizens' Assembly on affordable and sustainable housing seems like a strong candidate, as Elena and Kaylee suggested. Housing intersects with so many critical issues—economic security, climate resilience, and social inclusion. A potential framing question could be: "What policies and actions are needed to make housing accessible, sustainable, and equitable for all?" This could spark diverse perspectives and actionable solutions while connecting with people’s immediate concerns.

Relevant for many could also be cost of living or transport.
