IX Coimbra International Conference on Human Rights

Prof.Dulce Lopes, a member of the EU-CIEMBLY project, participated in the IX Coimbra International Conference on Human Rights, held in Coimbra on October 8, 9, and 10, 2024. During the event, she delivered a presentation on the topic ‘Democratic Innovations and Intersectionality’, highlighting the connection between these concepts and their role in the EU-CIEMBLY project, which she coordinates at the University of Coimbra.

In her talk, Prof. Dulce Lopes explored how democratic innovations can address issues of intersectionality and how different social identities intersect to shape people's experiences. She discussed how this framework is incorporated into the EU-CIEMBLY project’s efforts to create more inclusive, participatory forms of democracy.

The conference provided an important space for exchanging ideas on human rights and social justice, and Lopes’ presentation emphasized the relevance of her research in promoting a deeper understanding of democracy and human rights in today's world.
